We are so proud to announce that this year’s Heart in Hands Scholarship—a $1,200 award raised through Manis for Grannies, was presented to Glen Ridge High School senior, Michelle Plaisted.

The Heart in Hands Scholarship was created to recognize a graduating senior who has used their passion to make a meaningful impact in their community. This year’s recipient stood out for the way she turned her care for the environment into action that truly made a difference.

Michelle used her passion for environmental justice to go beyond the classroom. She volunteered at gardens and food pantries, conducted research on invasive species, built partnerships with local organizations, and developed educational materials to raise awareness about environmental inequality. Her commitment to creating change was clear in everything she did.

In addition to her environmental work, Michelle serves as Vice President of the Glen Ridge Girls Club, further showing her leadership and dedication to serving others.

Congratulations! We’re so inspired by your heart and the difference you’re making.
